Special thanks goes out to Harry for being our first Path to Prinicpal discussion volunteer.  It was a great presentation that I hope will lead to many more opportunities for other area Prinicpals.

As of January 1st, 2012, there are several new tax laws in effect for 2012 that can affect your business, particularly for those in the construction industry. Our presenter will provide insight into various ways you can utilize the new tax changes to minimize your business tax liabilities. The focus of this presentation will include new tax laws for 2012 including tax credits for new employees hired in 2012, 2012 expense rules for SUVs, trucks and vans, cash accounting vs. actual accounting for contractors, as well as business expense-related tax changes such as Section 179 Expense Deduction and Bonus Depreciation for the Cost of Business Property; employee-related new tax laws including Deducting Year-End Bonus Accruals, Worker Retention Credit, Small Business Health Insurance Credit and Contributions to Qualified Health Plans; and New Information Reporting Requirements, including 1099 Reporting Requirements and Penalties. We will also discuss the tax benefits of proper entity formation, as well as succession planning for your business to minimize any tax liabilities for your business.

JANATHAN ALLEN brings an extensive international tax, accounting, finance and legal background to Allen Barron, Inc. Located in Escondido and downtown San Diego, California, Allen Barron, Inc. provides not only business and individual tax return preparation and accounting services, but also provides financial and management advisory services to individuals and businesses throughout Southern California, the USA and worldwide. Ms. Allen has worked with a diverse group of businesses, advising clients in legal, financial and tax arenas. She began her career in the public accounting arena and then moved into the private sector as tax director for a biotech firm, Hybritech, Inc. She progressed to Controller and CFO/Legal Counsel positions for a number of San Diego companies before becoming a partner at Allen Barron, Inc. Ms. Allen has led seminars throughout California on tax-advantaged corporate structures and tax minimization, and recently appeared on KOGO Radio and the Craig Sewing Show to discuss tax strategies for individuals and small businesses.
